- James Hadley Chase's novel "Eve" had previously been adapted for the screen by director Joseph Losey. He directed "Eve" (1962) starring Jeanne Moreau in the lead role.
- Filming took place in Paris, Lyon, and Annecy. Several scenes were shot in the Imperial Palace, located on the shores of Lake Annecy, which is now a four-star hotel.
- Prior to "Eve," Benoît Jacquot directed five films featuring Isabelle Huppert: "Wings of the Dove" (1981), "School of Flesh" (1998), "Don't Look Back" (1999), "False Servant" (2000), and "Villa Amalia" (2009).
