Robin Hood

This adventure romance follows the conflict between Robin Hood and Sir Guy of Gisbourne, who seeks to capture Robin due to his relationship with Lady Marian. Robin manages to trick the Sheriff by disguising himself as a merchant to lure him into the woods. Meanwhile, Brother Tuck rescues another merchant from robbery, who is revealed to be King Richard the Lionheart. The story concludes with the marriage of Robin and Marian and the appointment of Robin as the Earl of Huntington.

The 1912 film was produced by Eclair American in Fort Lee, New Jersey, during the early years of the American movie industry. It was directed by Étienne Arnaud and Herbert Blaché, with a screenplay by Eustace Hale Ball. The cast features Robert Frazer as the title character and Barbara Tennant as Maid Marian, among a credited cast of 20 people. Visually, the movie is noted for the oversized hats worn by Robin and his companions, as well as a technique where images of animals are superimposed over characters to signal their moral nature.
