Becoming Bond

Becoming Bond tells the story of George Lazenby, an Australian car mechanic with no acting experience who, through a series of improbable circumstances, was cast as James Bond in the 1969 film On Her Majesty's Secret Service. After the film became a worldwide success, he was offered a contract for several more Bond films along with a large signing fee, and he turned it all down.

The documentary mixes interviews with staged reenactments. Lazenby appears as himself, while Josh Lawson plays him in the dramatized passages. Kassandra Clementi, Jane Seymour, Jeff Garlin and Dana Carvey are among the credited cast of 28. Josh Greenbaum directed and wrote the film, and produced it with Chris Leggett and Rafael Marmor. It runs 91 minutes and was released in March 2017.

It is the first of several films Greenbaum has directed, ahead of Too Funny to Fail: The Life & Death of The Dana Carvey Show later the same year, Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar, Strays and Will & Harper, with further titles to follow. On TMDB it holds a rating of 6.9 out of 10 from 80 votes.
