Rocko has spent twenty years in space, and when he finally returns to O-Town with his friends Heffer and Filburt, he finds a town transformed by technology. The world he left behind now runs on smartphones, endless food choices and a fast, loud pace of life that overwhelms the group. Amid the adjustment, Rocko has one goal: to bring back his favourite television show, which has gone off the air. Getting it restored means confronting how much both the town and the people he cares about have changed.
The film is a television movie based on the animated series Rocko's Modern Life, directed by Cosmo Segurson and series creator Joe Murray, who also wrote the screenplay with Tom Smith. It sits second in Segurson's directorial credits, between Tom and Jerry: The Fast and the Furry and Fiego and the Magic Fish. The voice cast returns Carlos Alazraqui, Tom Kenny, Charlie Adler, Mr. Lawrence, Jill Talley and Linda Wallem, many playing multiple roles. At 45 minutes, it is a compact revival rather than a feature. On IMDb it holds 6.9 from around 4,400 votes, and on TMDB 6.6 from a much smaller sample, indicating a modest but generally positive response.
