Short description
A dark, hip, urban story of a barren and anonymous city where the underclass' sport of choice is ram-raiding. An exciting game in which stolen cars are driven through shop windows to aid large-scale looting before the police arrive. For Tommy, it's a business, but for Billy and Jo, it's a labour of love. As the competition between Tommy and Billy grows more fierce, the stakes become higher and the "shopping" trips increasingly risky.
What's left behind the scenes
- On set, Jude Law met his future wife Sadie Frost, who played Jo, the friend of his character Billy.
- All the actors underwent training in extreme driving courses.
- Director and screenwriter Paul W.S. Anderson worked on the script for three years.
- In one of the scenes, the characters played by Jude Law and Sadie Frost talk while lying in a wrecked car. This scene doesn't take up much screen time, but it took a very long time to film. This was due to two homeless people who were occupying the chosen filming location and flatly refused to leave, instead beginning to talk to each other deliberately loudly. When they finally quieted down, it turned out that there was a medical complex nearby with a helipad on the roof of one of the buildings, and the film crew had to put up with the sound of rotating blades.
