The plot is based on the short film "The Oppressed Majority" (Eleonora Puriya), released in 2010. Pierre Bénizit played the main role in it, and here he played a secondary character (Christophe).
Netflix contacted Eleonora Puriya after the short film was uploaded to YouTube and went viral in 2014. Puriya suggested making a series out of it, but eventually agreed to Netflix's proposal to make a romantic comedy.
