Bachelor in Paradise

Adam J. Niles is a successful author whose series of books celebrates the bachelor life in cities around the world. Facing a pressing tax debt, he needs a new bestseller quickly, so his publisher sends him to a newly built California suburb called Paradise Village to research how married couples live there. He settles in under an assumed name, but his presence as a single man draws the attention of the local wives, and quickly earns him the resentment of their husbands. His research also lands him in court.

The film is a romantic comedy directed by Jack Arnold, whose earlier work was largely in science fiction, including It Came from Outer Space, Creature from the Black Lagoon and The Incredible Shrinking Man. It was written by Hal Kanter and Valentine Davies and produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Bob Hope leads the cast as Niles, with Lana Turner as Rosemary Howard, Janis Paige, Jim Hutton, Paula Prentiss and Don Porter among the principals. It runs 109 minutes.
