What's left behind the scenes
- The plot is based on the battle near the Afghan village of Kamdesh for Outpost Keating, which took place on October 3, 2009, between Taliban militants and international coalition forces.
- Two U.S. Army soldiers, Clinton Romesha and Ty Carter, received the Medal of Honor – the highest U.S. military award – for the battle. Carter served as a consultant on the film and played one of the roles. More than ten participants in that battle were involved in the filming.
