What's left behind the scenes

  • Each of the three stories features dogs – Spanish: perros.
  • The car crash scene was filmed simultaneously with nine cameras, including two on rooftops and one hidden camera in a trash can. The stunt driver was in a black car, while in the model car was an animatronic doll controlled remotely.
  • Unlike most films, the disclaimer that no animals were harmed during production appears at the beginning of the film, rather than after the end credits.
  • The television programs shown in the film are early works by Iñárritu on television.
  • "Negro" (Spanish for Black) – the nickname El Chivo gives his dog at the end of the film – is a well-known pseudonym of the film’s director.
  • The bus driver asking Octavio if he's ready to go is Gael García Bernal's father, who played the role of Octavio.
  • On one of the newspaper pages El Chivo is reading, a poster for Alejandro Amenábar's film "Open Your Eyes" is printed.
  • The main role was offered to Edgar Ramirez, but he declined.
  • Alejandro González Iñárritu appeared in a cameo in the film's second episode. He plays one of the journalists in the office where Daniel works.
  • On one of the pages of the newspaper that El Chivo is reading, there is a poster for Alejandro Amenábar's film 'Open Your Eyes.'
