Fear Street: 1666 concludes the trilogy of horror films adapted from R. L. Stine's books, picking up the story from the two earlier installments. Deena is carried back to the colonial settlement of 1666, where she comes to understand what really happened to Sarah Fier and why the town's affliction began. Returning to 1994, she and her friends must act on that knowledge to survive and to protect the future of Shadyside. The film moves between the two eras, with the witch hunt of the past shaping the dangers the teenagers face in the present.
Leigh Janiak directed and co-wrote the screenplay with Phil Graziadei and Kate Trefry. It is the third of her four features to date, following Honeymoon and Fear Street: 1978 and preceding Fear Street: 1994 in the order her films were made. Kiana Madeira plays both Sarah Fier and Deena, alongside Benjamin Flores Jr., Olivia Scott Welch, Ashley Zukerman, Darrell Britt-Gibson and Elizabeth Scopel. The production, by Chernin Entertainment, assembled a credited cast of 37 and a credited crew of 82.
On IMDb, the film holds a rating of 6.6 from around 75,000 votes. On TMDB it stands at 7.1 from roughly 2,070 votes, close to the critics' rating of 7.1 from 99 reviews, which suggests that reviewers and audiences have judged it in broadly similar terms. Running 115 minutes, it was released in July 2021.
