NiNoKuni

Based on a video game series, NiNoKuni follows two high school students, Yuu and Haru, who discover a way to travel between the real world and a parallel magical realm. After their childhood friend Kotona is attacked and her life is placed in danger across both dimensions, the two boys embark on a quest to save her. Their mission is complicated by romantic feelings and the need to make a difficult final decision.

The film was directed by Yoshiyuki Momose, following his work on Modest Heroes and preceding The Imaginary. The screenplay was written by Akihiro Hino. The voice cast features Kento Yamazaki as Yuu, Mackenyu as Haru, and Mei Nagano as Kotona. Produced in Japan by companies including Bandai, Warner Bros. Japan, Kodansha, and dentsu, the project involved a credited crew of 100 people.

The movie earned 3 million USD at the worldwide box office. Audience reception is mixed to positive, with a rating of 6.1/10 on IMDb from 4,500 votes and a slightly higher score of 6.6/10 on TMDB based on 282 votes.
