Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin follows Margot, a documentary filmmaker who sets out to find the mother who abandoned her as a baby. Her search leads her to a remote Amish community that turns out to be where her biological family lives. The residents welcome her and her crew, allowing them to film inside the settlement but warning them away from the surrounding woods. As the visitors settle in, they come to suspect that the community is protecting something, and that the truth about Margot's mother is bound up with it. The film is a found-footage horror mystery, the seventh entry in the Paranormal Activity series.
William Eubank directed, working from a screenplay by Christopher Landon; Jason Blum and Oren Peli produced. It sits between Eubank's underwater thriller Underwater and his later action film Land of Bad in his directing credits. Emily Bader plays Margot, with Ari Notartomaso, Alexa Shae Niziak, Dan Lippert, Kyli Zion and Jaye Ayres-Brown in supporting roles.
Released in October 2021, the film runs 98 minutes. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.3 from around 20,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.1 from roughly 800 votes, suggesting viewers who sought it out were somewhat more favourable than the broader IMDb pool. A critics' rating of 4.9 from 47 reviews places it below both audience scores.
