What's left behind the scenes
- The film is dedicated to the memory of Monkey Punch, the creator of Lupin III. Punch passed away in April 2019, six months before the premiere.
- Monkey Punch always dreamed of adapting the cartoon into 3D format, and fortunately, he was able to see the film during post-production.
- To accurately convey the atmosphere of the scenes taking place in France, the creators of the cartoon studied French and Belgian comics.
- According to director and screenwriter Takashi Yamazaki, he was greatly influenced by Hayao Miyazaki's 'Lupin the 3rd: The Castle of Cagliostro' (1979) while working on the film.
- Takashi Yamazaki initially considered making a live-action film, but ultimately decided to make an animated film.
