The iconic "gentleman thief" Lupin III returns in an action-packed, continent-spanning adventure, as Lupin III and his colorful underworld companions race to uncover the secrets of the mysterious Bresson Diary, before it falls into the hands of a dark cabal that will stop at nothing to resurrect the Third Reich.

What's left behind the scenes

The film is dedicated to the memory of Monkey Punch, the creator of Lupin III. Punch passed away in April 2019, six months before the premiere.
Monkey Punch always dreamed of adapting the cartoon into 3D format, and fortunately, he was able to see the film during post-production.
To accurately convey the atmosphere of the scenes taking place in France, the creators of the cartoon studied French and Belgian comics.
According to director and screenwriter Takashi Yamazaki, he was greatly influenced by Hayao Miyazaki's 'Lupin the 3rd: The Castle of Cagliostro' (1979) while working on the film.
Takashi Yamazaki initially considered making a live-action film, but ultimately decided to make an animated film.
