Lupin III: The First

Lupin III: The First follows the renowned gentleman thief Arsène Lupin III as he pursues the Bresson Diary, a treasure that even his famous grandfather never managed to steal. Lupin joins forces with a young woman named Laetitia, an aspiring archaeologist whose grandfather has ties to a shadowy group with dangerous ambitions. As Lupin and his companions race to unlock the diary's secrets, they find themselves caught between the police and a conspiracy that reaches back to the Nazi era.

Released in Japan in December 2019, the film is a 3D computer-animated entry in the long-running franchise based on Monkey Punch's manga, directed and written by Takashi Yamazaki. It is the eleventh of the eighteen films he has directed in chronological order, arriving between Dragon Quest: Your Story and Stand by Me Doraemon 2. The voice cast includes Kanichi Kurita as Lupin, Kiyoshi Kobayashi as Daisuke Jigen, Miyuki Sawashiro as Fujiko Mine, Daisuke Namikawa as Goemon Ishikawa XIII, Koichi Yamadera as Inspector Zenigata, and Suzu Hirose as Laetitia.

The film earned about 7 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds a 6.9 rating from roughly 4,200 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 7.3 from around 324 votes. A critics' rating of 7 out of 10 from 22 reviews places it close to the audience scores.
