The Death and Return of Superman

The Justice League faces a powerful alien creature called Doomsday, whose strength proves too great for the team to handle. Superman eventually stops the monster, but the victory comes at the cost of his own life, leaving Metropolis and the world in mourning. Following the disappearance of his body, four new superheroes bearing the signature emblem appear. Lois Lane begins to question the origins of these newcomers and wonders if one of them is a reborn version of the fallen hero.

This animated feature was produced by DC Entertainment, DC Comics, and Warner Bros. Animation. It was directed by Sam Liu and Jake Castorena. For Liu, this production followed Justice League vs. the Fatal Five and preceded Superman: Red Son, marking the 19th of 22 films he directed. For Castorena, it followed Batman vs Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and preceded Reign of the Supermen. The voice cast includes Jerry O'Connell, Rebecca Romijn, Rainn Wilson, Rosario Dawson, Jason O'Mara, and Nathan Fillion.
