Who Finds a Friend Finds a Treasure

Alan Lloyd is a gambler on the run from the gangsters he owes money to. He hides aboard a small boat skippered by Charlie O'Brien, a solitary sailor, and secretly sets the vessel on a course toward a Pacific island where a wartime treasure is said to be buried. Charlie, a reluctant companion, ends up stranded with him on the island. What they find there is not the empty shore they expected: the treasure is guarded by natives and by a Japanese soldier, Kamasuka, who has never learned that the war is over. The two men must deal with their pursuers and the island's defenders while searching for the hoard.

Sergio Corbucci directed the film, from a screenplay he wrote with Mario Amendola. Corbucci was behind several earlier films, and this one came after Super Fuzz and before Rimini Rimini, the fourteenth picture in that chronological run. The two leads are Terence Hill and Bud Spencer, the comedy duo whose pairing shapes the story's brawling humour. John Fujioka plays Kamasuka, Louise Bennett appears as Mama, and Salvatore Borgese and Kainowa Lauritzen are among the credited cast of twenty-five.
