Return to Silent Hill

James Sunderland is drawn back to Silent Hill after receiving a letter from Mary, the woman he lost. The town he once knew has been swallowed by darkness, and as he searches for her he encounters monstrous figures and begins to doubt his own sanity. The film is a horror mystery that follows his attempt to understand what has happened to the place and to hold on long enough to find the person he is looking for.

Return to Silent Hill was directed by Christophe Gans, his sixth feature after Necronomicon, Crying Freeman, Brotherhood of the Wolf, Silent Hill and Beauty and the Beast. Sandra Vo-Anh, Gans and William Josef Schneider wrote the screenplay, and Victor Hadida, Molly Hassell and David M. Wulf produced. Jeremy Irvine plays James, with Hannah Anderson as Mary Crane, Angela, Maria and Moth Mary, alongside Ljiljana Velimirov, Giulia Pelagatti, Evie Templeton and Robert Strange. Thirty-one cast members and eighty-nine crew are credited.

The film was released in January 2026 and made about 48 million dollars worldwide against a budget of 23 million. On IMDb it holds 4 out of 10 from roughly 15,000 votes, and on TMDB 5.4 out of 10 from 841 votes, while a critics' rating stands at 3.9 out of 10 from 67 reviews, so audiences and critics alike have been largely negative.
