Set in and around Paris in the mid-1960s, 2 or 3 Things I Know About Her follows Juliette Jeanson, a housewife who lives with her husband and two children in a large suburban apartment block. As consumer culture spreads through the city and household expenses mount, she turns to sex work to bring in extra money, keeping this part of her life separate from her family. Around her story the film observes the wider life of the city, its shops, its politics and its American influences.
Jean-Luc Godard directed and wrote the screenplay, and he also provides the film's whispered narration. Marina Vlady plays Juliette, with Anny Duperey, Roger Montsoret, producer Raoul Lévy and Jean Narboni among the cast. The film is the thirteenth of the twenty-three features Godard directed, made between La Chinoise and Weekend, both from 1967. Anatole Dauman and Raoul Lévy produced.
The film was released in March 1967 and runs 87 minutes. Audiences have been moderate in their assessment: it holds a rating of 6.5 out of 10 on IMDb from around 9,300 votes and 6.3 out of 10 on TMDB from roughly 220 votes. Critics have been considerably more enthusiastic, giving it an average of 8.5 out of 10 across 34 reviews, a clear gap between critical and audience response.
