Short description

Le Maître de ballet is a French short film centered on a ballet instructor who leads a group of dancers that cannot be seen. The plot focuses on the teacher's growing frustration and anger toward the perceived incompetence of the invisible students.

Directed by Marguerite Vrignault, the film was produced by La Société Phono-Cinéma-Théâtre. This three-minute production was released in 1900 and is noted as an early example of a film with sound. Within Vrignault's body of work from that year, it follows Danse directoire, Duo, and Le Cid, and precedes La Korrigane, Gavotte, and Ma cousine.
