What's left behind the scenes
- Students from schools No. 8 and No. 12 in Yelets appeared in the crowd scenes.
- The role of Stela was played by Natasha Shishkina from Vladimir, whose father was the director of the Vladimir Drama Theater at the time.
- Among the 'stars' who came to film in Kovrov was Mikhail Kononov, who had gained nationwide fame five years prior after his lead role in the film 'Chief of Chukotka'.
- The film starred Nikolai Boyarsky, a well-known Soviet actor and uncle of the singer Mikhail Boyarsky.
- The embankment and streets of old Kovrov served as natural sets. The old paddle steamer 'Shturvalny' also 'played a role' in the film; it had been rusting on the right bank of the Klyazma in the northern part of Kovrov since the Great Patriotic War, when there were plans to establish a sailing school there.
- The culmination of the location filming was the burning of the bridge over the Klyazma River, which, according to the plot, is set on fire by scouts and later rebuilt. Thousands of Kovrov residents watched the filming of this scene, during which an old city wooden bridge was burned; by that time, a new reinforced concrete one had already been built nearby. Some scenes were filmed in 1971 in Yelets, and views of the Karakumsky Bridge, old city streets, and the Yelets CHP plant were included in the film.
