What's left behind the scenes

  • The working title of the film was “And Then Comes the Boogeyman.”
  • Victor Salva originally wrote the Creeper monster role for Lance Henriksen.
  • The film was named after the opening words of the chorus of the old 30s hit “Jeepers Creepers” by Harry Warren and Johnny Mercer.
  • According to the director's original vision, the film's ending was supposed to be supplemented with another scene. In a sunlit clearing, 23 years after the terrifying events, a young man named Harry (played by the same Justin Long) tells this story to his girlfriend, Lisa (again, Gina Philips). She doesn't believe Harry, but on their way to the bus station, their path is crossed by a menacing armored van, and a cheerful tune, "Jeepers Creepers," plays on the radio.
  • The song "Jeepers Creepers" was written in 1938 by Harry Warren and Johnny Mercer, and in 1939, a short animated film called "Jeepers Creepers" and a full-length Western of the same name were released.
  • Debbie Morgan or Tina Turner could have played the role of Patricia Belcher in the film.
  • In the final scene, Justin Long, who played the Creeper's victim, Darry Jenner, played the Creeper. And Jonathan Breck, who played the Creeper throughout the film, appears without makeup as a bald police officer in one of the episodes. The film's director, Victor Salva, also appeared in a small role – as one of the Creeper's victims, pinned in the church basement.
