Short description
Julie Rivers and her husband move into a new house after she becomes pregnant following years of difficulty starting a family. Due to medical orders, Julie must remain on strict bed rest. During this period of isolation and monotony, she experiences frightening supernatural events and spectral sightings. As these occurrences bring back painful memories from her past, those around her begin to doubt her mental stability. Julie must confront these otherworldly forces and her own inner demons to protect herself and her unborn child.
Written and directed by Lori Evans Taylor, this American horror film stars Melissa Barrera as Julie Rivers and Guy Burnet as her husband, Daniel. The production was supported by BondIt Media Capital, STX Films, and Project X Entertainment, with Melissa Barrera also serving as a producer alongside James Vanderbilt and William Sherak. The supporting cast includes Edie Inksetter, Sebastian Billingsley-Rodriguez, Erik Athavale, and Kristen Sawatzky.
The film earned 2 million USD at the worldwide box office. Audience reception is mixed, with a rating of 5.1 on IMDb based on 5,354 votes and a slightly higher score of 6.2 on TMDB from 277 votes.
What's left behind the scenes
- In one scene, Julia, played by Melissa Barrera, reads the book "Impresiones y Paisajes" in bed. The title translates from Spanish as "Impressions and Landscapes"; it is a book about travels by the Spanish poet and playwright Federico García Lorca, published in 1918.
- In the original script’s finale, Julia died from injuries sustained in a fall and later appeared on screen as a ghost (together with the ghost of the deceased baby, they observed her husband, played by Guy Burnet, and their newborn daughter). However, viewers saw a finale in which Julia recovers and moves to a new place of residence with her husband and daughter.
