What's left behind the scenes

  • Filmmakers inserted a scene of the end of the world into the film when it was discovered that CNN had such footage in its own archives with strict instructions to employees not to broadcast it "until convincing confirmation is received that the end of the world has actually arrived."
  • In a scene that was cut from the film during editing, the gremlins release all the animals from the laboratory. During filming, the monkeys in the laboratory set were so frightened by the gremlin puppets that they refused to come out of their cages, even despite the pleas of the trainers.
  • The film “Gremlins” (Joe Dante, 1984) turned out, to the surprise of its creators, to be so successful that Warner Bros. immediately demanded a sequel. However, Dante had had enough of gremlins and refused. Work on the film continued regardless, and the studio bosses began to approach various screenwriters and directors. Possible script options included sending the gremlins to Los Angeles and even to Mars. All of these ideas failed, and they had to go back to Dante and beg him. He agreed on the condition that he would have complete creative freedom. The studio accepted his condition, and Dante even received a larger budget for filming than before.
  • In one scene, Dante interrupts the projection as a prank, creating the illusion that the gremlins have infiltrated the projection booth, preventing viewers from enjoying the entertaining spectacle.
  • When a flying Gremlin flies straight through a wall, instead of a simple hole, the Batman symbol appears.
