Kids

Kids is a 1995 crime drama set among teenagers drifting through the streets and parks of Manhattan. The story follows Telly, a seventeen-year-old who makes a practice of sleeping with inexperienced girls and avoids protection, treating each encounter as a conquest to be discarded. He spends the day with his friend Casper, stealing from his own mother to buy drugs, and the two drift into a fight with a stranger. Meanwhile, a girl named Jennie learns something about her own health that sends her searching the city for Telly, hoping to find him before he involves another girl.

The film was directed by Larry Clark, the first feature in a directing career that continued with Bully, Ken Park, Destricted and Marfa Girl. Harmony Korine wrote the screenplay, and Cary Woods produced. Leo Fitzpatrick plays Telly, with Justin Pierce as Casper, Chloë Sevigny as Jennie and Rosario Dawson as Ruby among a large credited cast.

Made for about two million dollars and taking roughly seven million worldwide, the film was a commercial success relative to its budget. On IMDb it holds a rating of 7 out of 10 from around 91,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.9 from about 1,360 votes. A critics' rating of 6 out of 10 from 57 reviews places professional assessment somewhat below the larger audience score on IMDb.
