Short description
Forensic psychologist Alex Cross travels to North Carolina and teams with escaped kidnap victim Kate McTiernan to hunt down "Casanova," a serial killer who abducts strong-willed women and forces them to submit to his demands. The trail leads to Los Angeles, where the duo discovers that the psychopath may not be working alone.
What's left behind the scenes
- Before filming began, Ashley Judd took kickboxing lessons from stuntman David Lee (1935-2021). The actress insisted on performing the stunts herself, and for a while the studio executives indulged her, but they firmly refused when she intended to jump from a 45-meter waterfall. Instead, a stuntman in a wig jumped, and nearly hit the rocks during the jump, but fortunately everything worked out.
- In the final scene in the kitchen, a camera with a special lens was used. Both characters are shown in focus, although one of them is noticeably further from the camera (theoretically, one of the characters should have been out of focus).
- At one point, Denzel Washington was supposed to be involved in the film, but he was busy with another project, and the role went to Morgan Freeman.
- When Casanova speaks (either from the shadows or during the opening credits), the audience hears the voice of Tony Goldwyn. His voice was used to mislead viewers and to amplify their surprise at the identity of the real killer when it is revealed.
