Convoy

Convoy follows a group of long-haul truckers whose run-ins with a corrupt sheriff escalate into an open revolt. After a roadside confrontation, Rubber Duck and his fellow drivers flee across state lines, using their CB radios to stay ahead of the law. As word of their flight spreads, more truckers join them, forming a massive convoy that draws national attention and turns a personal dispute into a public standoff.

The film was directed by Sam Peckinpah, arriving after Cross of Iron and released in 1978, and was written by Bill L. Norton. Kris Kristofferson leads as Rubber Duck, with Ali MacGraw, Burt Young, Madge Sinclair, Franklyn Ajaye and Brian Davies among the principal cast, in a production credited to 58 cast members and 60 crew. Producer Robert M. Sherman oversaw a project backed by United Artists and EMI Films with a budget of 12 million dollars. It went on to take about 45 million dollars worldwide, a strong return on its cost.

On IMDb it holds 6.3 out of 10 from roughly 21,000 votes, and on TMDB it also sits at 6.3 from 444 votes. A critics' rating of 4.5 out of 10 from 19 reviews puts it well below those audience scores, indicating that viewers have been considerably warmer toward the film than reviewers were.
