The jet aircraft used in the filming were British Folland Gnat light fighters. They were never in service with the American armed forces. Iraqi interceptors and the two-seater fighter at the beginning of the film are portrayed by F-5 'Freedom Fighter' aircraft.
The aircraft carrier featured in the film was actually a wooden deck built on the edge of a cliff. The film was shot from an angle that made the deck appear as a ship at sea.
