A Wounded Fawn centres on Meredith Tanning, a museum curator who is easing herself back into dating. She becomes involved with Bruce Ernst, a charming man whose interest in her is far more dangerous than it appears. What begins as a romantic weekend away turns into a tense contest between the two as his violent nature surfaces. The film, a horror story set in the United States, was directed by Travis Stevens, who also wrote the screenplay with Nathan Faudree. It is his second feature as director, following Girl on the Third Floor in 2019. Josh Ruben plays Bruce Ernst and Sarah Lind plays Meredith Tanning, with supporting roles filled by Malin Barr, Katie Kuang, Tanya Everett and Laksmi Hedemark. Stevens produced alongside Joe Barbagallo and Laurence Gendron.
The film runs 91 minutes and was released in June 2022. Its ratings divide sharply by audience: on IMDb it holds 5.4 out of 10 from around 4,200 votes, and on TMDB it also sits at 5.4 out of 10, from a much smaller base of 81 votes, indicating limited viewer attention there. Critics were considerably more favourable, giving it 7.6 out of 10 across 46 reviews. That gap suggests a film that rewards the kind of attention critics gave it more than it satisfies casual viewers.
