Exterior filming of Spencer Academy took place at Bishop's University in Sherbrooke, Quebec, in late 2005.
Renny Harlin is known for showcasing elements of Finnish culture in his films. In "Deal," he hangs a famous Finnish painting by Hugo Simberg on Sarah's wall. It's called "The Wounded Angel" and depicts an angel supported by two boys.
According to DVD commentary, the beach party scenes were filmed in December. The original filming location was flooded shortly before, and the scenes had to be reshot at a new location at the last minute.
