Sisa Bueno

Sisa Bueno is an American director and cinematographer from New York City whose work explores the ripple effects of social and historical forces on individuals and communities. She studied film production and interactive technologies at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.

Her feature documentary For Venida, For Kalief premiered in the U.S. Documentary Competition at the 2025 Tribeca Festival and received coverage from Democracy Now!, The Guardian, NPR, and NBC. In 2013, NBC named her a Latino Innovator for her documentary To the Mountains, which examines Black and Indigenous decolonization movements in Bolivia. Her work has received support from the Ford Foundation, the ITVS-PBS Open Call, the Sundance Documentary Fund, the International Documentary Association, the Firelight Media Lab Fellowship, and the Film Independent Documentary Lab Fellowship. She is also an alum of the New Museum's NEW INC incubator program, where she founded the art-discovery platform VUEVELO.
