Fabian Jestin is a film/audiovisual teacher and director. A graduate of a professional master's degree from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, he recently began teaching in Compiègne, where he introduces high school students to the languages, practices, and history of cinema. His teaching work is part of a desire to anchor audiovisual knowledge in a critical and sensitive reflection on images, their uses, and their production. At the same time, he collaborates on the production of documentaries for television, mainly portraits of cinema figures and subjects of cultural significance, while simultaneously pursuing a more intimate creative approach through self-produced fiction. In 2022, he directed "Empty Planet", his first short film combining animation and live action, born from a university partnership between the Sorbonne, Arte, and Gallimard. The following year, he directed "Amédée", a short documentary about a family secret, constructed from archive footage. The filmmaker develops a universe where memories, cinematic artifice, identity issues, and porous boundaries between illusion and reality intersect—themes that constitute the beating heart of his work as a director.

Fabian Jestin est un réalisateur et enseignant en cinéma/audiovisuel. Diplômé d’un master professionnel à l’Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, il enseigne depuis peu à Compiègne, où il initie des lycéens aux langages, aux pratiques et à l’histoire du cinéma. Son travail pédagogique s’inscrit dans une volonté d’ancrer les savoirs audiovisuels dans une réflexion critique et sensible sur les images, leurs usages et leur fabrication. Parallèlement, il collabore à la réalisation de documentaires destinés à la télévision, principalement des portraits de figures du cinéma et des sujets à portée culturelle, tout en poursuivant en parallèle une démarche de création plus intime à travers des fictions autoproduites. En 2022, il signe "Planète Vide", son premier court-métrage mêlant animation et prises de vue réelles, né d’un partenariat universitaire réunissant la Sorbonne, Arte et Gallimard. L’année suivante, il réalise "Amédée", un court-métrage documentaire autour d’un secret de famille, construit à partir de films d’archives. Le cinéaste développe un univers où se croisent souvenirs, artifices cinématographiques, troubles identitaires et frontières poreuses entre illusion et réalité — des thématiques qui constituent le cœur battant de son travail de réalisateur.
