Josh Glen Puno is a Filipino filmmaker forged in the culturally vibrant municipality of Maco, Davao de Oro, where his passion for storytelling and visual art began to flourish through grassroots and regional cinema. Emerging from Mindanao’s growing independent film movement, Puno developed a creative voice deeply rooted in local identity, youthful perspective, and socially grounded narratives that reflect the realities and aspirations of provincial Filipino life. He first gained recognition through his directorial debut Bahandi, which premiered during the 11th Nabunturan Independent Film Exhibition (NABIFILMEX) under the Davao de Oro Students category, marking his introduction to the regional filmmaking scene and establishing him as one of the promising young storytellers from the province. Following the success of his debut, he continued to immerse himself in collaborative productions and independent creative endeavors, gradually expanding his role beyond directing into production and creative development. Among his notable contributions is his involvement as Executive Producer of the award-winning short film Ang Signal Gikan Sa Taas, a project honed by filmmaker Ken Suelto that further showcased his commitment to supporting emerging Mindanao cinema and fostering stories that resonate with contemporary audiences.
