What's left behind the scenes
- Holby has a Geraint Morris ward. It was named after Geraint Morris, the original producer of the show, who died in 1997.
- The first season of the series sparked fierce debate among viewers and negative reactions from authorities because the creators "dared" to criticize hospital conditions and the chronic underfunding of the UK's National Health Service. Furthermore, some professional educational institutions disliked the portrayal of nurses in the series. Despite all this, a second season was filmed, partly because the scripts had already been paid for, and it was initially believed that the project would end there. Many years have passed since then, and "Casualty" has become the longest-running BBC series and the second longest-running medical series in history, second only to the American show "General Hospital" (1963-2014).
