What's left behind the scenes

  • The number of filming locations grew, and shoots that previously took about an hour and a half stretched to 12 hours in the new season.
  • In the new season, Olga Orlova, Karmanov's ex-wife, became one of the hosts. Orlova and Karmanov divorced but remained on friendly terms. Once, Orlova expressed a desire to try something new, and Karmanov suggested she join the project.
  • In 2014, the rights to Valery Komissarov's project passed to a new owner. The TNT channel decided not to renew the contract with the previous producer, who was literally obsessed with cutting the project's budget. Entrepreneur Alexander Karmanov acquired 'Dom 2,' after which a new season was announced. In the new season, the probationary period for participants was reduced to one month. Participants began receiving fees based on their popularity with viewers, screen time, and several other factors. The monthly fee ranged from 200,000 to 250,000 rubles. Additionally, participants were reimbursed for expenses related to plastic surgery, marriage, and the birth of a child.
  • The project was the brainchild of director and screenwriter Valery Komissarov. The idea was simple: the participants had to build a house. At the end of the season, the couple that received the most votes from the viewers was awarded a house near Istra in the Moscow region. For the first few months, the participants woke up early, put on their work clothes, and headed to the construction site. During work breaks, they got to know one another, chatted, occasionally fell in love, and weeded out those who couldn't find a partner. The script was kept to an absolute minimum.
  • Initially, the participants of the show were not paid. Director and screenwriter Valery Komissarov only considered introducing payment several years later. The right to be paid was a privilege that had to be earned. The first hundred days of participation in the project were considered a sort of probationary period. During this time, participants had to adapt to life inside the perimeter, make acquaintances, find a boyfriend or girlfriend, and either win the sympathy of the viewers or provoke their dislike. There was a place in the project for everyone, including characters with negative ratings.
