What's left behind the scenes

  • Don Johnson intended to leave the project after the conclusion of the second season and made no secret of his intentions, so the show's creators had already eyed Mark Harmon as his replacement. The only person dissatisfied with this outcome was executive producer Michael Mann. He persuaded Johnson to stay, as a result of which he became the highest-paid actor in the history of television series.
