What's left behind the scenes

  • The series is based on the children's books by author Barbara Euphan Todd.
  • Worzel invented his own language, which all scarecrows understood; he called it "Worzelese."
  • A sequel series titled Worzel Gummidge Down Under was filmed in New Zealand between 1987 and 1989.
  • Worzel had about 10 interchangeable heads for various skills: one made him smarter, another was for dancing, a third for courage, and so on.
