What's left behind the scenes
- Some studio employees insisted that the kiss between Tom and Helen should not be shown on screen because Franklin Cover (1928-2006) was white and Roxie Roker was not, but executive producer Fred Silverman (1937-2020) insisted on the opposite.
- When Zara Kali (1892-1978) passed away during filming, her character passed away as well.
- The series never received a proper finale. A year later, still upset by this, the cast members performed in a stage play based on the sitcom. Sherman Hemsley (1938-2012) stated that he found out about the series ending from the newspapers. Isabel Sanford (1917-2004) learned about it from a relative who had also read it somewhere.
- Like her character, Roxie Roker (1929-1995) was married to a white man named Cy Kravitz (1924-2005). When asked during her casting interview if she would feel uncomfortable with her character being married to a white man, she simply showed them a photo of her husband.
