What's left behind the scenes

Arsema Thomas dropped out of college to prepare for filming.
Fashion plays a significant role in the series, with wigs standing out in particular. As the young queen grows and evolves into a full-fledged monarch, the wigs become larger and more complex. Makeup artist and stylist Nick Collins created a whole gallery of looks tailored to the characters' nationalities. The wigs featured braids and various hair types, from tight curls to straight strands. Flowers, lace, and jewelry were added to the synthetic hair on wire frames. This made the hairstyles so heavy that they had to be supported at the back of the neck by special frames.
Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (1744-1818) arrived at St James's Palace in London on September 8, 1761. She was met at the garden gates by the King and his relatives. Within six hours of her arrival, she had already married George III (1738-1820). The ceremony in the Royal Chapel was conducted by Archbishop of Canterbury Thomas Secker (1693-1768). Only members of the royal family, those who had traveled from Germany with Charlotte, and a few invited guests were present.
