Short description
Gunsmoke is an American radio and television Western drama series created by director Norman MacDonnell and writer John Meston. The stories take place in and around Dodge City, Kansas, during the settlement of the American West. The central character is lawman Marshal Matt Dillon, played by William Conrad on radio and James Arness on television.

What's left behind the scenes
- In Spanish-speaking countries, the series is known by the title «La ley del revolver» ("The Law of the Revolver").
- James Arness and Milburn Stone (1904-1980) were the only ones to remain in the series' cast for all 20 years, with a brief exception in 1971 when Stone suffered a medical emergency and was replaced by Pat Hingle (1924-2009) for six episodes.
- James Arness was the only actor to appear in every single episode without exception.
- The mini-series is based on the novel of the same name by Ivan Turgenev.
