What's left behind the scenes
- Francis Ford Coppola agreed to re-edit the first two parts of the gangster saga in order to use the fee received to fund the filming of the war drama Apocalypse Now (1979).
- This re-edited version included scenes that did not make it into Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather (1972) and The Godfather Part II (1974), including an episode with Jack Woltz and the girl, as well as a scene in which Vito and Michael discuss Michael's future.
