What's left behind the scenes
- In the first few episodes, the characters used a CJ-7 Jeep, and later, a custom-made 1976 Plymouth Volaré van.
- During the 3-D revival of the early 1980s, there was an idea to film an entire episode in this format, but it had to be abandoned. Viewers would have needed special glasses or extremely precise color calibration on their television sets, which was simply impossible in the era preceding cable and satellite television.
- A waterfall is shown during the opening credits of each episode. This is a waterfall on the Wailua River on the island of Kauai, part of Hawaii.
