Short description

What's left behind the scenes
- In 2006, in a survey, UK residents named the series 'Yes Minister' the greatest political comedy of all time.
- The screenwriters had advisors who had previously worked in government, so many of the plots were based on real events. For example, in the episode 'On Moral Grounds' in season 3, the characters travel to a Muslim country where alcohol consumption is prohibited; therefore, they set up a 'communications center' in the embassy to store all their drinks. This incident actually took place.
- In 1983, it won the BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) award for 'Best Comedy Series,' beating the sitcom 'Only Fools and Horses' (1981-1991). All cast members and crew were present at the ceremony.
- Neither Paul Eddington (1927-1995), nor Sir Nigel Hawthorne (1929-2001), nor Derek Fowlds liked performing in a studio before a live audience, as they often had to pause in the middle of their lines and wait for the laughter to subside.
- The role of James Hacker was specifically written for Paul Eddington. At the time, BBC executives promised each of the lead characters from the series 'The Good Life' (1975-1978) their own spin-off series.
