What's left behind the scenes
- Gounod's 'Funeral March of the Marionettes' is featured in the opening credits of every episode.
- Alfred Hitchcock (1899-1980) began his film career as an electrician, an artist in the advertising department, and later as a title designer. His duties included drawing cards with the actors' names for films (as cinema was silent at the time).
- Two versions of the opening and closing were filmed for each episode. This was because Hitchcock's famous jokes about sponsors were incomprehensible to European audiences. Therefore, he filmed one opening and finale for the American viewer (with jokes about sponsors) and another for the European viewer (with jokes about Americans). In the third season, he even filmed the openings and finales in French and German, as he spoke both languages fluently.
