What's left behind the scenes
- In February 2015, HBO began airing the documentary 'The Secrets of the Billionaire'; the series creators set out to unravel the history of the scandalous millionaire. During the filming of the documentary, dozens of hours of interviews with the main protagonist were recorded.
- In one of the episodes, Derst was shown an anonymous note reporting Berman's murder, which had been sent to the police after the woman's death. The filmmakers pointed out similarities between the handwriting of the note's author and Derst's. Shortly after filming this episode, the millionaire went into the bathroom but forgot to remove his microphone, so the recording continued. 'There it is, you're caught. What the hell did I do? Killed them all, of course,' Derst said, unaware that his words were being recorded. Most likely, this recording will be used against Derst in court.
