What's left behind the scenes
- The first season received positive reviews from many film critics—most were simply thrilled with the acting (especially Ben Mendelsohn and Kyle Chandler) and the cinematography. The second season received mixed reviews, and the third received negative ones.
- The series was filmed in the Florida Keys.
- In September 2016, it was announced that the production cost ranged from $7 to $8.5 million per hour of screen time, meaning the filming of all 33 episodes cost between $231 and $289 million. Filming in Florida proved to be very expensive, despite tax incentives. Despite positive reviews and various award nominations, the high cost of the series was rumored to be one of the reasons for its cancellation.
