What's left behind the scenes

  • The character of Jeri Hogarth in the series is based on a comic book character named Jerin Hogarth, although in the series the character is a woman, whereas in the comics, he is a man.
  • Harold Micham claims that he has always wanted to visit Australia. This character is played by David Wenham, an Australian actor.
  • When Harold Micham calls his son Ward, the phone display reads "Stein, Frank N." This is a play on the name Frankenstein, given Harold's return from the dead.
  • In episode 8, Joy mentions that she hired a private investigator who is second to none, but "only until she gets drunk." This is a reference to Jessica Jones, the protagonist of another Netflix series.
  • Lead actor Finn Jones trained for 4 hours a day before filming, practicing martial arts and working with barbells.
  • Lewis Tan auditioned for the role of Iron Fist, but ended up playing Cheng Zhou.
  • The series creator and showrunner (the executive producer responsible for the main direction and development of the project) Scott Buck initially did not want to work on this project, but changed his mind after seeing the success of the series 'Daredevil' (2015).
  • The Iron Fist comic book series was released on the wave of success of the television series 'Kung Fu,' the first season of which aired in 1972. The authors were inspired by the idea of the lost city of K'un-Lun by the novel 'Lost Horizon' (1933) by English writer James Hilton (1900-1954) and Tibetan legends. Much of the original series was drawn from the character Amazing-Man published by Centaur Publications during the 'Golden Age of Comics' (late 1930s to early 1950s). He was an orphan from somewhere in the West named John Aman, who acquired superhuman abilities as a result of training in a lost land similar to Tibet.
