Short description

In the city of Oedo 2808 A.D., three Cyber criminals are given two choices, to either rot in jail or to join a special force of the Cyber Police to possibly get one more chance at freedom. For each criminal apprehended, and for each successful mission done, the state will agree to reduce their sentences. Lead by Hasegawa, the new recruits: Sengoku, Gogul, and Benton will bring some hard justice to Oedo, and possibly taste freedom once again.

What's left behind the scenes

  • The first episode served as a pilot, meaning that subsequent episodes were intended to be released only if the first one was successful. In the finale of the pilot episode, Sengoku, infuriated by the 20-year increase in his sentence, says, "You may think I'm old-fashioned, but I still believe in the death penalty," as he creeps along a building ledge to kill Hasegawa. Later, since Sengoku and Hasegawa appear in the second and third episodes, the finale was redrawn—now, saying "to become free, I will kill as many criminals as necessary," Sengoku attacks two men of Asian appearance.
  • The name of the setting, Oedo, is a portmanteau of "Oasis" and "Edo" — the old name for Tokyo.
  • The heroes' weapons are jutte — daggers used by certain units of the Japanese police during the Edo period. They also serve as badges identifying their membership in the cyber police. Although every hero possesses such a dagger, only Sengoku uses the jutte for its intended purpose.
