What's left behind the scenes
- Producer Steven Soderbergh (director of the 2009 film of the same name, which inspired the creators of the series) suggested that Lodge H. Kerrigan and Amy Seimetz, who had never worked together before, direct the first season. Kerrigan and Seimetz later spoke about how difficult the process was, which is why the second season was created from two completely unrelated stories told by different directors. When producing the third season, which was approved a year and a half after the second season ended, Soderbergh decided not to experiment further and hired Anya Marquardt to direct all ten episodes.
