- The series "Planet Earth II" was filmed in 40 countries. The film crews made 117 trips. If you add up all the filming time, it totals 2,089 days, or 5.7 years, to create the series.
- The first BBC series released in ultra-high definition (4K).
- During filming on an island in the Zavodovsky Archipelago of the South Sandwich Islands, a camera was accidentally wet. While waiting several days for a replacement to be delivered by sea, the operators tried to dry it by holding it over a camping stove.
