What's left behind the scenes
- This is the first non-animated project starring Black Lightning. Previously, the character had only appeared in several animated projects based on DC Comics, and also served as the prototype for Black Vulcan in the animated series "Super Friends" (1973).
- At the start of filming, lead actor Cress Williams was 47 years old. This made him the second oldest actor to debut in a superhero role. The oldest actor was Ron Perlman, who was 54 when he played the title character in Guillermo del Toro's sci-fi action film "Hellboy" in 2004.
